MediGrid
Connected work in different locations and data pools, which are jointly built up and used, are core components of modern biomedical research. GRID-services within an eScience platform, which is regularly operated, continuously available, economically calculable and secure, offer a new chance for cooperative work with efficient IT-tools. The aim of MediGrid is to advance interdisciplinary and distributed cooperation in biomedical research by GRID-technology.
The cooperative project MediGrid is going to use the domain of biomedical research with its high-dimensional and versatile data types to prove the applicability and relevance of GRID-services in medicine and life sciences. At the same time generic requirements for logical and technical structures will be identified and forwarded to the German GRID-Integration-Project.
The project MediGrid is organized in different modules: three areas of biomedical research are represented (image processing, biomedical informatics and clinical research) and are supported by four methodological modules (middleware, ontology-tools, fusion of resources and eScience).
